Brother Industries, Ltd. (President: Toshikazu Koike, hereinafter
Brother) has announced that it will consolidate the Brother Group's
manufacturing facilities of the industrial sewing machines and machine
tools located in the different areas in Xian, China into a new factory
by 2013 to enhance manufacturing operations management and business
efficiency to meet growing demand in the Chinese market.
Manufacture of Industrial sewing machines in China was started at a
joint venture in Xian, 1993. In 2001, Brother established a fully owned
subsidiary in Xian. In April of 2010, Brother merged these two
companies, and soon after that, it started operation as Brother
Machinery Xian Co., Ltd (hereinafter BMX). In addition to the industrial
sewing machine, BMX started manufacturing machine tools at another
factory in fall of 2010. Currently BMX is manufacturing both industrial
sewing machines and machine tools at three factories.
In the Chinese market, demand for both industrial sewing machines and
machine tools are expected to grow. In order to respond to this growing
demand, and to enhance manufacturing operations management of these
businesses, Brother consolidates all factories in Xian into a single
factory. With this new factory, Brother strives to increase production
volume and business efficiency to improve competitiveness.
Xian city officials and representatives of Brother are participating
at a contract signing ceremony for this project, today, in Xian city.

Also, Brother transferred the technical center of machine tools to
the sales company of industrial sewing machines located in Shanghai
(Brother Machinery Shanghai Ltd.) on April 1, 2011 to enhance the
unified management of manufacturing, sales and services operations in
order to increase business efficiency. Brother will strengthen marketing
activities in the Chinese markets that are globally major markets of
both businesses, and deliver products to customers in a timely manner,
and further expand sales while satisfying growing customer demand.
