REACH, Regulation No 1907/2006 on the Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and
Restriction of Chemicals.
REACH entered into force on 1st June 2007 and under REACH, companies operating in
the EU may face certain obligations as manufacturers, importers and/or downstream
users. These obligations are staggered and become effective in stages; this means that
different deadlines apply.
1 June - 1 Dec 2008 - pre registration period for existing substances manufactured or
imported into the EU at 1 tonne per annum or more
1 Dec 2010 - registration complete for substances of 1000 or more tones per annum
or substances of very high concern greater than 1 tonne per annum
1 June 2013 - registration complete for substances of 100 or more tones per annum
1 June 2018 - registration complete for substances of 1 or more tones per annum
Brother and parties working on behalf of Brother have completed the necessary
pre registrations and are working to ensure registration at the appropriate time.
REACH requires that sufficient information on Substances of Very High Concern (SVHC)
contained in articles in concentration above 0.1% weight by weight (w/w) is communicated
to allow the safe use of the product.
The following products contain a SVHC in a concentration above 0.1% w/w.

The items below may contain substances above the threshold at an individual component
level but not above 0.1%(w/w) of the total article weight.

We will continue to monitor the status of the candidate list as part of our on-going compliance activities.
Brother Internationale Industriemaschinen GmbH intends to fulfil all of the registration requirements of the
REACH Regulation at the appropriate time.
As new developments occur, we will update this statement.
